Charles Edward Ravenscroft
KEYSER, WV - Charles Edward Ravenscroft, 87, of Keyser, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Peace Healthcare at Lions Center in Cumberland, MD.
Born on February 18, 1937 in Keyser, he was the son of the late William H. and Eunice (Dancer) Ravenscroft. He is also preceded in death by his brother, David Ravenscroft.
Charles graduated from Piedmont High School and Potomac State College where he earned his Engineering degree. He served 20 years in the Army Nation Guard and was Supervisor for Westvaco Paper Mill. After his retirement of 30 plus years at the mill he went from Power to Recovery and worked for RESA VIII as a Paramedic Instructor, teaching EMT’s and Paramedic Students all over Mineral County and West Virginia. He worked as a NREMTP Paramedic with Keyser EMS and was a mentor to many Paramedics. He was one of the First National Registry EMTP in Mineral County.
Among his many accomplishments he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren was one of his favorite things to do, he loved them dearly. He was also was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies, camping, the beach and traveling with his loved ones. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption and will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
Left to cherish in his memory are his loving wife Barbara (Sagal) Ravenscroft; daughters, Jennifer Ravenscroft of Texas, Robin Junkins and husband Richard of Virginia, Lisa A Porter and husband Tom of North Carolina and Christine E. Roberts and husband Darren of West Virginia and brothers, Denny Ravenscroft and wife Cecile of Virginia and Bill Ravenscroft and wife Donna of Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mark May, Catie May, Lauren A. Dayton, Olivia Bunn and husband Matthew, Chelsea Sheldon and husband Cody and Mariah Sarver and husband Samuel; 9 great-grandchildren and his nieces and nephews.
In respecting Charles’ wishes there will be no public services. A private family committal and inurnment will be held at the St. Thomas Cemetery in Keyser.
