Arthur Harry. “Ockie” Hartman
KEYSER, WV - Arthur Harry “Ockie” Hartman, 93, of Keyser, died on Saturday, October 25, 2021 at Stonerise of Keyser Nursing Home.
Born on September 1, 1928 in Keyser, WV, he was a son of the late Hubert S. Hartman, Sr. and Lillian W. (Whiteman) Hartman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy “Dottie” Hartman on August 28, 2005; his son, Arthur C. “Artie” Hartman; infant daughter, Kimberly Joan Hartman; brothers, Elmer "Rags", Edward, Hubert "Dusty" Jr., Charles “Bucky”, Ralph and George Hartman and his sisters, Glendora Wamsley, Lillian Miller, Erma Lee Parsons, Helen Morgan and Isabelle Edmiston. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Ockie graduated from Keyser High School in 1946 and was nominated for the first Edward Kelly award. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and a retired Plant Manager for Penn Ventilator Company. He was an active member of the Calvary United Methodist Church and was a member of the Boyce Houser Post #41 American Legion and the Loyal Order of the Moose Chapter #662 in Keyser.
Surviving are his grandchildren, Preston Hartman of Colorado Springs, CO and Peyton Hartman of Morgantown, WV; his great-grandson, Elijah Artie Hartman and daughter-in-law, Denise Ann Hartman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved deeply and many cherished friends.
Friends will be received on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 1:00 - 2:00pm. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00pm with the Reverend Beth Jacobson officiating. Interment will be held in Queens-Meadow Point Cemetery, Keyser with Military Honors being accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard, the Proctor-Kildow American Legion Post#71 Honor guard and the VFW Post 10077 Honor Guard.
