Allen Ernest “Ernie” Davis
Keyser, WV- Allen Ernest “Ernie” Davis, 84, of Keyser, passed from this life on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Dawnview Skilled Care facility in Ft. Ashby, West Virginia.
Mr. Davis was born August 23, 1939 in Keyser, to Frank Davis and Ethel (Blaisdell) Davis.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 55 years, Darleen (Mayhew) Davis; brothers, James, Charles, William, and sisters, Dorothy, Frankie, Frances, Myrtle and Anna Bell.
He is survived by his sister, Ruby (Davis) Alvaro of Keyser; three sons, Gary and wife Toni of Winchester, VA, Joseph and wife Peggy of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jeffrey and wife Karen of Keyser, WV and Jason of Westernport, MD and one daughter, Peggy Miller and husband Dean of Keyser. He was also “Unc” Ernie to his nieces and nephews, Ron, Ed, Doug, Velma, Shirley, Janet, Steve, Jean, Sue, Molly, Charlotte and JoAnn. He was pap to over 25 grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a few great-great grandchildren as well.
Allen was a graduate of Keyser High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was employed by Westvaco Corporation for 40 years retiring in the early 2000’s. He was a first responder with the Keyser Emergency Medical Services serving as President for several years. He was also an avid bowler, pool player, and ping pong expert.
Those who knew Allen/Ernie in recent years knew him as the loving caretaker of his wife Darlene. He was a generous and faithful husband, father, brother, uncle, and pap. He will be greatly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Allen ‘Ernie” Davis to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38108.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Markwood Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Fazzalore officiating. Inurnment will be held in the Bloomington Cemetery.
