Alfred E. Harris
BURLINGTON, WV - Alfred E. Harris, 84, of Burlington, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2021 at his residence.
Born on November 19, 1936 in Westernport, MD, he was a son of the late Alfred Francis and Opal Irene (Lambert) Harris. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Harris, a brother Leroy Harris and two infant children Joan and John Harris.
Alfred retired from Westvaco Maintenance Department as a multi-craft foreman and was a 1955 graduate of Bruce High School. He was a United Methodist by faith and attended the Fountain Brethren Church. He was a member of Davis Lodge 51, AF & AM and enjoyed feeding and watching the birds.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Reba Y. (Westfall) Harris, his children, Jim Harris and wife Lynne, Donald Harris and wife Robin, Rebecca Mellott and husband Joe and Edward Harris and wife Jeannie and sons; his brothers, Jesse Harris and wife Bonnie, Daniel Harris and wife Lucy and Paul Harris; a sister, Mary Thomas; his grandchildren, Sara Dailey and husband Jason, Aaron Harris and wife Jessica, Donald Harris, Jr., Brandon Harris and Fiancee’ Kristina McNemar, Zachary Mellott and wife Krista, Jordan Mellott and wife Kirstin and Jacob Mellott and wife Rebecka and his great-grandchildren, Angel, Coltlin, Steel, Crosby and Peyton Harris, Nolan, Adalyn, Zander, Brady, and Sawyer Mellott (due in April). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews and a special cousin Harold Harris and wife Helen and special niece, Melissa Harris.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Thursday, March 11, 2021 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday, March 12, 2021 at 11:00 am with Pastor Daryl Elliott, Reverend Betty Ann Aronhalt and Reverend Wes Beahm officiating.
Interment will follow in the Liller-Harris Cemetery, Burlington, WV.
