KEYSER, WV – William E. “Bill” Jones, 80, of Keyser, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Frostburg, Maryland.
Born on November 14, 1936 in Mount Storm, he was a son of the late Olin B. Jones and Oreta G. (Moreland) Jones.
Bill graduated from Bayard High School and they moved to the Keyser area. He was employed at Westvaco and worked there for 43 years until his retirement. Bill was a member of the Fountain United Brethren in Christ Church where he served as a trustee for many years. Bill’s greatest love was the outdoors, where he trapped, hunted deer and especially spring gobblers. He and Terry Jenkins spent many hours together fishing for trout in the streams in WV. He also loved to garden and his vegetable garden was always bountiful, which he shared with many people in the community. People always commented on how beautiful his flower gardens were. Bill was proud of his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane (Cramer) Jones; his children, Debra Taylor and husband Clinton of Keyser, Jim Jones and wife Kimberly of Stephen City, VA and Mark Jones and wife Jeanne of Keyser and his sister Emma Jean Munsie of Keyser. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Ashlee Newlin & husband Geoff of Keyser, Tracy Gough and husband Brandon of Short Gap, Danny Jones of Manhattan, Brittney Jones of Martinsburg, Colton Jones, Jamison Jones and Bethany Jones, all of Keyser; his two great grandchildren, Tucker and Harper Newlin and a niece, Rhonda Beeman and husband Mike of Keyser.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted at Fountain United Brethren in Christ Church, Headsville Road on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Dr. Daryl Elliott officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in Cabin Run Cemetery.
