KEYSER, WV – Roger Wayne Junkins, 71, of Stonewall Manor, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center.
Born July 11, 1946 in Keyser, he was the son of the late Elmer B. and Vauda E. (Jack) Junkins. He was also preceded in death by a brother Norman Lee Junkins.
Roger was a mechanic and owner of Junkins’ Auto Repair and Towing Shop. He was a graduate of Elk Garden High School and a Vietnam U.S. Navy Veteran.
He was a former quartermaster for VFW Post 6735 of Mount Storm and a member of VFW Post 3518 Nancy Hanks of Keyser.
Surviving are his wife, Charlene (Smith) Junkins; his children, Nathan Junkins and Melissa Junkins Campbell, both of Keyser; his brother, Carroll Junkins and wife Darline of Maysville and his sister, Ila F. Mayhew and husband Steve of Mount Storm; his granddaughter, Michelle O. Simmons and husband Bradley of Keyser and great-granddaughter, Kira Rose Simmons.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from noon to 2 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted after the visitation at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Dr. Stephon Reed and Pastor Carroll Junkins officiating. Interment will follow in Potomac Memorial Gardens where military honors will be accorded by U.S. Navy and Post 13 Veterans Honor Guards.
