     KEYSER, WV - Robert L. “Bob” Myers, 83, of Hooker Hollow Road, Keyser, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. 

     Born on July 17, 1935 in Westernport, MD, he was the son of the late Wilbur Lee and Anna B. (Cowatch) Myers. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Rosemarie (Raschella) Myers, and his daughter-in-law Joye (Smith) Myers.

    Bob grew up in Piedmont, WV and graduated from St. Peter’s High School in 1953 where he was president of his senior class.  After graduation, he attended Potomac State College for two years before being drafted into the Army. He spent two years in Germany with the 2nd Armored Division. Following his military service, he worked at Westvaco for 39 years before retiring in 1998 as a customer service representative in the Quality Assurance Department. 

    Bob was a member of the Knights of Columbus and previously served as Grand Knight of the Piedmont Council. He was also a member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus in Cumberland.

    Bob and Rosemarie loved to dance to big band music and were faithful members and officers of the former El Fidel Club. 

    He is a long-time member and past president of the St. Peter’s Alumni Association. For many years, Bob has entertained at the alumni association’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner with Irish jokes and storytelling. He was honored in May 2018 as the guest speaker at the Association’s annual alumni banquet.

    A die-hard Notre Dame fan, Bob enjoyed cheering on the Fighting Irish in football and both men’s and women’s basketball.

    He is survived by his son Robert Todd Myers, and daughter Kelli Wittman and husband Harry, all of Keyser; his grandchildren Katrina Miller and husband Troy of Kansas; Bobby Myers of Ashburn, Va.; Logan Wittman stationed at Travis AFB in California; Ryan Hickey of Morgantown; and Kerri Wittman, Keyser; and six great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by his sister Virginia “Dee” Collins and husband Bob of Rochester, PA, and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Assumption Catholic Church, 34 James Street, Keyser, on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Thomas Anatharackal, CST. as celebrant.   The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the mass.

     Bob’s family requests that those attending his funeral service wear Notre Dame or green clothing to honor his love of all things Irish. 

     Interment will follow in Saint Thomas Cemetery, Keyser, WV.
