Jordan D. Placka
BURLINGTON, WV – Jordan D. Placka, 28, of Burlington, died on Saturday, September 29, 2018.
Born on August 29, 1990 in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of Douglas Franklin and Jane Ann (Tetrick) Placka. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Geraldine W. (Berg) Simmons.
Jordan was a Union Lineman with Local #70 IBEW in Washington, D.C. He was a 2008 graduate of Keyser High School, attended Potomac State College and graduated from Pierpont Community and Technical College in Fairmont. He was a member of The Church of the Assumption and Burlington Volunteer Fire Department where he served as 2nd lieutenant.
Surviving in addition to his parents, Doug and Jane Placka, are his brother Josh Placka and wife Tiffany; his grandparents, James and Doris Tetrick and Frank and Carol Placka; his niece, Nadiyah Placka; his nephew, Hudson Placka and his faithful dog, Thunder.
Jordan loved spending time outdoors with his faithful companion, Thunder, hunting, fishing and loved serving his community as a Volunteer Fireman. He was a loving and devoted son, brother and uncle.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 6-9 p.m. A Rosary service will be held Thursday at the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of Assumption, 34 James Street, Keyser, on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow in Saint Thomas Cemetery, Keyser.
