John Michael Allen

     KEYSER, WV- John Michael Allen, 77, of Bosley Road, Keyser, WV, died October 8, 2017 at his residence.

     Born August 20, 1940 in Cumberland, MD, he was the only son of the late Melvin “Red” and Julia Henrietta (Kolkhorst) Allen.

     John was a U.S. Army Veteran and a 1958 graduate of Keyser High School.  He had been employed at Westvaco as an Engineers Assistant until retiring in 2001.  He was a skilled hunter and loved camping.

     He is survived by his son, James M. Allen and wife Theresa of Tarrs, PA; his daughter Sandra Allen Thompson and husband Dan of Silverdale, WA; his sister, Anne (Allen) Spery & husband Howard of Evergreen, CO.  John is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Danny Dressler, Phoebe Thompson, Jimmy Allen, Justin Puffinburger, Austin Puffinburger, Katie Allen and Jonathan Puffinburger; his great granddaughter, Alanda Puffinburger and a special friend for 40 years, Barbara Tenney.

     Friends will be received at Markwood Funeral Home on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 6-8:30 p.m.  Funeral Services following visitation at 8:30 p.m with Pastor Rick High officiating.  Private inurnment will be in Queen’s Point Cemetery at a later date.
