James “Jim” W. Rucker

     KEYSER, WV-James “Jim” Weldon Rucker, 91, Of Terri Street, Keyser, WV, died September 19, 2017, at his residence.

     Born April 5, 1926, in Washington, D.C., he was a son of the late George Edward Rucker and Ollie (Coakley) Rucker.  He was also preceded in death by his wife Georgia (Tasker) Rucker; a daughter, Constance Culp, and a son, Douglas McVay; a brother, George E. Rucker and a sister, Mary Ann Edmond.

     Mr. Rucker was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran.  He was a co-owner of the former Village Card Shop in Keyser and former manager of People’s Drug Store, Clinton, MD.  Jim was a member of First United Methodist Church, Boyce Houser Post 41, American Legion and lifetime member of VFW Post 6775, Queen’s Point and Clinton VFD, Clinton, MD.

     He is survived by a son David E. Rucker and Theresa L. Seaman; grandchildren, Justin Rucker, Jared Rucker, Jeremiah Rucker, Lisa Connor and husband Bill, Christopher McVay and wife Carolyn; great grandchildren, Billy Connor, Ashley Connor, Nichole McVay and Kyle McVay; a sister, Norma Curry and husband Donald of Vienna, VA; a brother-in-law Jack Tasker and wife Tess and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special care givers Kathy Jenkins and Brenda White and his faithful guardian dog, Velvet.

     Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 32 N. Davis St., Keyser, on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 2 pm with the Reverend Shirley Reed Officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 11 am until service time at 2 pm. A private family committal service will take place at a later date.

     In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Potomac Valley Hospice, 100 Pin Oak Lane, Keyser, WV 26726.
