September 9, 1925 ~ October 30, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

Together Again

Genevieve G. Henry

KEYSER, WV – Genevieve G. Henry, 92, of D Street, Keyser, died on October 30, 2017 at Piney Valley Nursing Home.

Born on September 9, 1925 in Tyrone Township, PA, she was a daughter of the late Liston Wesley and Anna B. (Richter) Thomas.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack A.   Henry on March 26, 1985. Genevieve was the last surviving member of immediate family.

Mrs. Henry was a licensed LPN and a homemaker.  She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, VFW Post 3518 Nancy Hanks Auxiliary, Keyser Purple Heart Club, Alkire Chapter #10, OES, Mineral County Humane Society and a volunteer of the former Clary Street Development Center.

She has been in Heartland Nursing Home for the last 5 years.  She had sadly lost her sight from glaucoma and had been in failing health for a while. She turned 92 years old September 9.  We always said she was "little but mighty."   She loved her children and grandchildren and made many great memories with them.   She was a strong woman and a hard worker and nursed her middle son Jim back from a devastating auto accident in 1966.  She will be missed but we are happy to know she is now in a better place, visiting with all the family and her little doggies who have gone before her.  God bless "Dutch" as she was called and rest easy, Mom.  We love you always.

Surviving are her sons, George A. Henry and wife Susie of Barton, MD, Tom Henry and wife Kathy of Keyser and James R. Henry of Keyser; her grandchildren, Tammy (Ed) Shockey, Mike (Dawn) Henry, Shawn (Mary Cate) Henry and Jeffrey (Jenna) Henry; her great-grandchildren, Chris Shockey, Rachael Shockey, Rebecca Shockey, Joshua Henry, Ericka Henry, Jackson Henry, Connor Henry, Cooper Henry and Tommy Henry and one on the way in March 2018.   She is also survived by several great-great-grandchildren. The family wishes to leave special thanks to Penny Brafford and family who were wonderful caregivers to Mom and to Jim.  Also special thanks to all the staff at Piney Valley Nursing Home.

Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with Eastern Star Service at 7p.m.  Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Lauren Godwin Officiating.

Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale, MD.
