KEYSER, WV – Frances Louise Linn Wittman, 86, of 1385 Terri Street, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Piney Valley Nursing Home.
Born November 17, 1930 in Grafton, she was a daughter of the late Dorothy (Kerby) and Sanford Linn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years on March 1, 2004 and a sister Doris Jean Linn Stuchell Lega.
Frances retired from Bell Atlantic Telephone Company with 36 years of service. She worked in Grafton as an operator and also Assistant Chief Operator; Piedmont as Chief Operator; N in the Plant Department; Cumberland Switchboard Operator and Dial Administration Group and retired from Engineering Department in Cumberland in 1986.
She was a homemaker and loved to crochet. Frances was active in the 24th Infantry Division Association, being the Quartermaster for several years and Alkire Chapter #10 OES.
Surviving are her two daughters, Debbie Evans and husband Fred of Elk Garden and Sharon Beckwith and husband David of New Creek; her son, Harry L. Wittman III and wife Kelli of Keyser and two sisters, Janice Clark and husband Bud of VA and Nancy Cristner of TN. Also surviving are her nine grandchildren, Jason Evans, Jeremy Evans, Kevin Evans, Logan Wittman, Kerri Wittman, Ryan Hickey, Sonya Wilson, David S. Beckwith and Monique Rice; and eight great-grandchildren, McKenna Evans, Jorden Evans, Miea Evans, Aubreana Beckwith, Miriah Rice, David Beckwith II, Adriana Beckwith and Bryce Mayer.
There will be no visitations. A graveside service and interment will be held at West Virginia National Cemetery, Grafton on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Kelly L. Martin officiating.
Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
