Dorothy J. “Dottie” Sanders

     KEYSER, WV – Dorothy Jean "Dottie" Sanders, 80, of Fort Ashby Road, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2017, at her residence surrounded by family.

     Born on December 18, 1936 in Romney, she was the daughter of the Late William Earl and Rose C. (Haines) Saville.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Edward “Lou” Sanders on December 24, 2016.  She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

     Dottie retired from Burlington United Methodist Family Services as a Treatment Associate.  She graduated from Romney High School and attended Potomac State College.  She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church where she was chairperson and served on many committees.  

     Surviving are her children, Cynthia Phillips and husband David of Piedmont, Pamela Smith and husband Ed, of Keyser, Mitch Sanders and wife Kim, of Keyser, Bill Sanders and Sarah Canfield of Hedgesville and a foster son, Andy Sanders of Keyser.  She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Nathan Sanders, Justin Sanders, Amelia Sanders Brown,  Katrina Phillips Powers, A.J. Reeves and Kaitlyn Reeves and six great grandchildren, her nieces and nephews and dear friends, Rick and Vicky Shingleton and Gretchen Green.

      Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 6-9 p.m.   Funeral services will be conducted at Grace United Methodist Church, 30 S. Mineral St., Keyser, on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Lauren Godwin officiating.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.

      Private inurnment will be in Queens Point Cemetery.

      In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in memory of Dorothy “Dottie” Sanders to the Grace United Methodist Church, PO Box 40, Keyser, WV 26726 or to Burlington United Methodist Family Services, 539 New Creek Highway, Keyser, WV 26726.
