Charles Willis "Chuck" Smith

       Charles Willis "Chuck" Smith, 68, of New Creek, died on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Potomac Valley Hospital.

     Born on May 18, 1950 in Keyser, WV, he was a son of the late Maurice Maxwell and Esther Louise (Crawford) Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Margie Stonestreet and Evelyn Smith and brothers, Ernest "Sonnie" and Ervin Smith.

     Chuck retired from the Finan Center as a Direct Care Attendant II. He was a former employee of Flex-O-Lite as a Packer-Loader Tester, Potomac Valley Hospital and several area Nursing Homes. Graduating from Keyser High School he attended Allegany Community College and became a Certified Nursing Assistant and Geriatric Caregiver. 

     A protestant by faith and in his early years he was an active member of both the Fountain and Keyser Volunteer Fire Department and the Keyser EMS.   He was an avid hunter and shared his success with others.

     Surviving are his wife, Margaret I. "Peggy" (Carr) Smith; his children, Kelly Inez Stemple and husband Ryan of Rock, WV, Charles W. Smith II and wife Debbie of Keyser and Jeremy B. Smith and wife Tena of Longmont, Colorado; his sister, Mollie Corbin and husband Paul; his grandchildren, Tory Stemple, Mac Stemple, AJ Stemple, Crystal Heise, Jena Smith and Jacy Smith and his great-grandchildren, Elleyana, Izaiah and Kaidryk Heise. He is also survived by his numerous nieces and nephews and our fur babies, Abby, Gibby and Molly.

   Family and friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 6:00 - 8:00pm. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 2:00pm with the Reverend Daniel Garlitz officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Private Committal will be held in Queens Point Cemetery.
