NEW CREEK, WV – Charles E. “Ed” Durr, Sr., 81, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 at WM Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, MD.
Born March 15, 1936 in Erwin, WV, he was a son of the late Charles Elmer and Clara Avinell (Loughrie) Durr. He was also preceded in death by his two sons, Charles E. Durr, Jr. and Clayton E. Durr; a brother, Keith Durr and a sister Mary Ours.
Ed was a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant who was on active duty during Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era. After retiring from the military, he was employed at D&L Coal Company. He was a sportsman hunter and fisherman and a King of the mushroom hunt.
Surviving are his daughter, Jackie S. Durr of Keyser; his brother, Howard E. Durr of WV; his grandsons, Justin E. Durr of KY and Richard C. Pancake of Keyser and his granddaughter, Autumn Dearmitt of PA; his significant other, Pam Barnett of New Creek and his nieces and nephews, whom he dearly loved.
A memorial service will be held at Potomac Memorial Gardens Chapel, Keyser, WV, on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 4 p.m. with Bill Self as officiant. Interment will follow with military honors being accorded by the U.S. Air Force National Honor Guard.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, WV.
