James Richard Kirk

     New Creek, WV – James Richard Kirk, 30, of New Creek, died on Monday, February 19, 2024 as the result of a tractor-trailer accident.

     Born on March 28, 1993 in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of Richard Kirk and Anita (Pancake) Lower. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clarence “Dick” and Geraldine Kirk, Larry Pancake and Charles Shobe.

     He graduated in 2011 from Keyser High School and was employed at A.J. Pancake Trucking Company. He held many jobs throughout his life but his passion and love was in truck driving. He was a member of the FFA and of the Skills USA.

     James was a devoted family man and a proud father to his son Noah who was the light of his life. He enjoyed spending quality time with his loving wife, son and family.  He had a generous heart and loved to help others no matter the project. He also enjoyed joking around and picking on those he loved. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

     Left to cherish in his memory are his parents, Richard Kirk and Anita Lower and husband Mark, his wife, Heather and his son, Noah; his sister, Ariel Shugars and husband Josh; special momma Becky Shugars; two brothers, Matthew Kirk and wife Megan and Alex Lower and Hanna Alt; nieces, Harper Miller, Skylar Jackson, McKenzie Kirk and Hartley Alt; nephews, Jacob Kirk, Jesse Alt and  Blake Derlan; honorary nephews, Sam and Nate Shugars; grandparents, Mabel Pancake, Carla Shobe,  and Larry and Becky Lower; his In-laws, Bob and Barbie Miller and his brother-in-law, Andy Miller and fiancé Shelena McKinney. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

    Memorial contributions may be made in honor of James’ to the James Kirk Benefit Account, held at WEPCO Federal Credit Union, 459 New Creek Hwy, Keyser, WV 26726.

     Friends will be received on Monday, February 26, 2024 at the Markwood Funeral Home from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 – 9:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the funeral home at 11:00am with brother, Matthew Kirk and uncle, Andrew Pancake officiating. Interment will follow the services in Stehley Cemetery.
