John T. “Jack” Dorsey, Jr.
WHEELING, WV – John T. “Jack” Dorsey, Jr. beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Wheeling Hospital surrounded by his family. He was deeply and lovingly committed to his family and will be sadly missed.
Born on March 21, 1927 in Keyser, he was a son of the late John T. Dorsey, Sr. and Mary B. (Herbert) Dorsey. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Bernard “Nick” Dorsey.
Mr. Dorsey graduated from Keyser High School Class of 1944 and Potomac State College. Jack was a Civil Engineer by profession and spent his career with the West Virginia Department of Highways. He had a great love for the sport of tennis as a player and ambassador for the game. He was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Ruth E. “Toots” (Purinton) Dorsey and their sons and families, J. Thomas Dorsey III, his wife Lou Ann and children Johanna, Jay and Scott of Wheeling; Timothy E. Dorsey, his wife Carla and children, Jonathan and Joseph of Weston, FL; Anthony Dorsey, his wife Laura and son Justin Kropka, his wife Trina and great grandchildren Campbell and Colby, as well as a sister, Mary Clara Lambert and husband, Jim of New Creek, WV. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, on Sunday, January 24, 2010, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption, Keyser, on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Father Ivan M. Lebar, T.O.R. as celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Thomas Cemetery, Keyser.

A Christian Wake Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 7 p.m.
