Owen J. Morgan
     KEYSER, WV – Owen J. Morgan, 91, of Stoney Run Road, Keyser, died on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Potomac Valley Hospital.
     Born on December 31, 1918 in Luke, MD, he was a son of the late Edward Joseph and Hazel May (McCombs) Morgan.   He was also preceded in death by a son, Hubert “Joe” Morgan, and a brother Donald D. Morgan.
     Mr. Morgan was retired from Westvaco’s Laurel Research Center as a machinist. He was a US Army WWII veteran and received the Army Occupational Medal for serving in the Philippines. He is a member of the Church of Assumption, life member of Queens Point VFW Post 6775, Kelly Mansfield American Legion Post 52, Victory American Legion Post 155 and had been an active member of the Keyser Volunteer Fire Department from 1940 to 1965.
     Surviving are his wife of 70 years whom he married on December 31, 1939, Helen H. (Hartman) Morgan; a son Michael C. Morgan of Keyser; a sister, Rose Mary McGuiness of Martinsburg, WV; four grandchildren, Melanie M. Bair and husband Kenneth, Hopelea Vallee and husband Andre, Hubert J. Morgan II and Dennis O. Morgan; and two special great grandchildren, Zayden Bair and Zori Bair. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, Arthur “Ockie” Hartman of Keyser and a sister-in-law, Isabelle Edminston of Cumberland, MD.
     Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, from 6 to 7 p.m. Services will follow the visitation at 7 p.m. with Father Ivan M. Lebar, T.O.R. officiating.
     Private interment will be in Saint Thomas Cemetery, Keyser at the convenience of the family where military honors will be accorded.
     If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Assumption, 34 James Street, Keyser, WV 26726.
