KEYSER, WV – Lee P. Sanders, 82, of 500 Carskadon Lane, Keyser, died on Monday, November 30, 2009 at Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.
Born on May 21, 1927, in Keyser, he was a son of the late Louis Mitchell Sanders and Lillie Frances (Dawson) Sanders. He was also preceded in death by his wife Mary “Jenny” (Metcalf) Sanders on May 17, 1986, four brothers, Robert, Chelcie, John and Thomas Sanders and two sisters, Amber Shobe and Ruby Baldwin.
Lee was a retired brakeman from the B&O Railroad and affiliated with the Believers Fellowship Church. He was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran where he served in Panama and a member of Boyce Houser Post 41 American Legion.
Surviving are his two sons, Michael L. Sanders, Sr. and wife Penny of Keyser and Jeffrey L. Sanders of Fort Ashby; his sister, Opal Sanders of Keyser; four grandchildren, Michael Sanders, Jr., Jenny Lynn Foster, Jessica Sanders and Devin Sanders; and five great-grandchildren, Christian, Katelyn and Kearsten Sanders and Jordan and Destiny Foster. He is also survived by a special nephew, Jerry Sanders and his wife and caregiver Charlotte.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Randy Crowe officiating.
Interment will follow in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, WV. |
