Ida Frances Ward Coleman

     KEYSER, W.Va. – Ida Frances Ward Coleman, 73, formerly of Keyser, died on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Davis Memorial Hospital, Elkins.

     Born July 27, 1936 in Keyser, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Beulah (McComb) Ward.

     Mrs. Coleman was a graduate of Keyser High School, Potomac State College and WV University, Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism.   She had served as Continuity Director of Radio Station WAJR, Morgantown, Director of Public Information at Ford Foundation Program for New Resources at University of Denver; Chief Promotion Writer at the Washington Post in Washington, D.C.; V.P. Coleman Development of Annapolis, MD; President of FWC Associates, Advertising & Public Relations of Annapolis; Promotion Manager at the Washington Times, Washington, D.C.; Columnist for Washington Post, Denver Post, Public Enterprise, and Mineral Daily News Tribune.

     Frances was a former member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Kappa Tau Alpha, American Association of University Women, Mineral County Humane Society, Anne Arundel Commission of the Bicentennial, SPCA, National Capital Women’s' Press Club, D.C. Advertising Club, Anne Arundel Democratic Club, U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Sponsor Program, Anne Arundel Historical Society and the Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

     She is the last surviving member of her family.

     At Mrs. Coleman's request, her body will be cremated and there will be no public visitations or services.  

     Inurnment will be Queen’s Point Cemetery, Keyser, WV.

     Arrangements have entrusted to the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, WV.
