In October, 1989, he purchased the Markwood Funeral Home and returned to his hometown area and resides in Keyser where three of his siblings live. Dean brings 35+ years of experience in the funeral industry after working in Piedmont, Cumberland, Rockville, Riverdale and Waldorf. He is a member of Church of the Assumption, Past president and member of Keyser Rotary, Fountain Ruritan, Knights of Columbus, Keyser Moose, VFW Post 6775 Queen's Point Men's Auxiliary, West Virginia Funeral Directors Association and Maryland Funeral Directors Association.

He graduated from Keyser High School, Potomac State College, West Virginia University and Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science where he was an honor graduate. He has been a licensed director with the Markwood Funeral Home since his graduation from Pittsburgh. He serves as Delegate in the West Virginia Legislature and a school bus operator.
